We loved sponsoring the gastropub category in the Great British Pub Awards so much that we jumped at the chance of seeing our name in lights as sole sponsors of a dedicated gastropub event.. "The Budweiser Budvar Top 50 Gastro Pub Awards"- it's like getting the foreman's job at last; a whole show to lord it over.
We do have some manners though. Just because we own the property, so to speak, we are not going to use this opportunity to go on at length about our beers. Suffice it to say that every drop of our Budvar is brewed at our one and only brewery in Southern Bohemia. In a natural 100 day brewing cycle we use only whole Saaz hops, Moravian barley malt , a strain of yeast that has been with us since 1895 and our own spring water with wow-factor to produce the ultimate lager conditioned beers. These are Budvar Original and Budvar Dark.
Likewise we are not going to rabbit on about the food matching opportunities that present themselves with our beers. It's not just pork and dumplings either and they offer glorious matches to dishes as diverse as tapas, fish, chicken, ribs or Jamaican jerk , to name but a few. Enough of this rude commercialism; from now until February 6 we shall be completely focused on the hunt for the 50 leaders of the Gastropub universe. Good hunting.www.budweiserbudvar.co.uk
